The Faculty of Business has an upcoming event that has been hosted for the past several years with great success. This Sunday, March 14th, the 3-on-3 basketball tournament to raise money for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity will take place.

ctjumpstartmadness.com - We, the students, have come together from different schools, regions, and programs of study to work together as one team in order to fulfill a common goal, which is to give kids a sporting chance.  Through our charity events which include but are not limited to golf tournaments, concerts, basketball tournaments and gala events we raise money and awareness for the community-based Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity.  We believe in supporting the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity, as participation in sports teaches you how to learn from your mistakes, problem solve, motivate others, as well understand how to work within a team environment .  One in three families in Canada cannot afford to register their children in organized sports and we would like to see that change.

Our team was formed five years and have been growing steadily. Last year alone our group helped to raise over $8000 to help give kids a chance to participate in sports within their communities.  This year again we have an energetic and committed team working towards the goal of helping to give children within our Canadian communities a chance to experience the joy of playing and being part of a team brings.

In 2006 & 2007 the event was held at Brock University and raised $500 both years for JumpStart. In 2008, we expanded to McMaster, Laurier, Concordia, and Western raising $3,800. This year we expanded our fundraising efforts to include our first dinner gala at Club Roma on March 6th, 2009. The gala raised $6,000 and managed to double amount of money raised since we began back in 2005! This year we are proud to say we have managed to raise an amazing $8,000 through all our fundraising efforts!

Thank-you to all our sponsors, participants, media and supporters for helping to allow our events to be made possible.  We feel our work can continue to grow and potentially one day become an organization present in all Canadian Universities.

Sincerely,
