A vote that achieves quorum at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the absolute authority of BUSU's government structure. The second highest governing body is the Board of Directors (BoD). The BoD consists of two (2) elected officials of the corporation, two (2) elected Students-at-Large, three (3) members of the Brock University Students' Administrative Council, and one (1) ex-officio non-voting member (Consititution, Article V). The activities of the BoD are legislated in By-Law 100. Brock University Students' Administrative Council (BUSAC) is comprised of elected faculty representatives, with a proportionate number of seats on Council to the number of students enrolled in the faculty. The activities of BUSAC are legislated in By-Law 200 and the Constitution. The Constitution (articles VII and XV) outlines the duties and powers of BUSAC as follows:
In essence, BUSAC Councillors are elected to represent the concerns and voice of their faculty constituents to the Executive Committee of BUSU. BUSAC provides a legislated opportunity for students to be involved (via their faculty rep) in the decision-making process of their Students' Union. |
