The Students' Union recognizes the value of clubs in providing social, cultural and educational services designed to encourage students at Brock to participate and learn. There are a couple of basic criteria for being a ratified club, most of which fall within the realm of common sense.

All clubs must be open to every student at Brock regardless of race, religion, colour, ability, gender or monetary status. It cannot have the same purpose as an already-existing club. Our insurance provider won't let us ratify clubs that participate in high-risk activities such as skydiving and competitive drinking.

In addition, clubs must not break laws, disrupt the operation of the university, or infringe on others' rights, such as privacy and freedom of expression or association. Finally, athletic organizations must be ratified through the University Athletics department, but are able to access some of the privileges of being a ratified club. The club handbook goes into more detail.
